My name is Kim Jenkins and at 23 years of age I am a freelancing artist. I have recently become a stay-at-home mum, and thought I would turn my passion for drawing portraits public. I started this website after receiving a few portrait requests from friends and family, I thought if they wanted portraits made then perhaps other people will too. So you’ve come to this page to read about me so Ill give you a little background knowledge…
I have always enjoyed drawing, or anything creative really, I studied art at school when it was compulsory but didn’t decide to study it for a full GCSE. At comprehensive school I studied Graphics and so I have experience more on the design side of the scale also. I took graphics further and studied at A Level along with textiles and Psychology. Once I achieved my A Levels I went on to study an Art and Design Foundation course at Swansea University. This I think is when my accuracy in drawing developed the most as every week we would have life drawing lessons, which I believe are essential for any artist or creative person. Most of my art skills as people say has been self taught or picked up from different inspirations. My father taught me a lot about drawing as a child, as my father is a very talented artist himself. Another person that helped improve my drawing and observation skills immensely was Osi Rhys Osmond, he was the art teacher involved with the life drawings, he really helped me with proportions, and seeing things as shapes and lines rather than objects.
My inspirations change daily and are not usually the greats like Da Vinci or Monet but working artist/designers at the moment. I constantly find inspiration on the internet, especially from DeviantArt
Another place I find great inspiration is from my Computer Arts magazine, as I know that these are living people working hard for a living, and one day I could be in here.
